If you earn $20 an hour and worked 45 hours in a week, first multiply your hourly pay rate by the total hours: 20 × 45 = $900. Since you worked 5 hours of overtime (over 40 hours), you calculate extra pay by multiplying half your hourly rate of pay ($10) by those 5 hours: 10 × 5 = $50.

So, your total employee pay rate for the week would be $950.
